Reboot to windows after install

Hi, I have made multiple attempts to install Zorin on my 2018 HP laptop without success. I get to complete the installation restart but it restarts in windows !
I have tried different usb's, different linux distro's and new copies of Zorin files.I choose the erase disk option not the side by side install. I have also attempted some bios adjustments as per previous answers from various places to no avail. I am determined to ditch windows but patience is running thin. This was supposed to be easy.
I'm an older newbie so dumb it down if you can !

Since you erased disk, this implies you are installing on a separate disk than Windows OS.
Is Windows installed as MBR (Legacy)? Or as EFI?

In BIOS Settings, you can check if Legacy MBR is enabled. And in Disk Partition manager, you would be able to see the EFI Partition if present.

If you removed the disk with Windows OS, and then installed Zorin OS, the EFI partition might be present on the Windows OS disk, which if it was removed... was gone.

@Chris710 ACER BIOS are often special. In your BIOS you must set a supervisor password in tab security. Once the supervisor password is set, some new menus are accessible. Enter the "Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing" menu. It will allow you to declare the newly installed Ubuntu (=Zorin) boot image as trusted.

The disc erase i was referring to was simply the choice offered by the installation instructions. I get to the point where i get the "installation complete" restart computer. I restart and it boots straight back into windows ! Isn't windows supposed to be removed ?

Do you have one drive or multiple drives?

Maybe this can help to select ubuntu to boot from in your BIOS:

Are secure boot and fast boot in your BIOS turned off and also fast startup in Windows (energy settings)?

It could help to post here some screenshots of your drive/drives. You can boot from Zorin USB boot stick, select "Try Zorin" and then search for "gparted" in start menu and open it. Select your drive/s and take a screenshot of the partitions of each drive.

Isn't windows supposed to be removed ?

When You choose the ''erase disk'' Option, yes. then Windows - and the whole Drive - will be wiped and then Zorin will be installed. Are secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled? Also, I would ask like before if Your BIOS is in Legacy or UEFI Mode and if You have more than one Drive in Your Machine?
