Using ZorinPro 18.1. I installed and then deleted Mailspring as my email reader. I now get an error popup as shown in the attached screen cap. I have tried to follow the error instruction, but am not able to rectify the problem. The attached pic also shows the appropriate /home directory contents: no com. reference to Mainspring.
I am not a PC Wiz, so am not sure what direction to take in solving the problem. Please help with any suggestions or solutions. Thank you for any help.
Hello roodyj:
Try this:
Open your Zorin Menu (the "Start" button) and type Startup Applications.
Look through the list for Mailspring.
If you see it, click on it once and hit the Remove button.
Log out and back in. gone?
wsmather,
No joy here. Mailspring or anything related to it does not appear in the list. Thank you for suggestion.
Hmmm.... If it doesn't show up in the tool above, the file is likely hiding in a hidden directory. Even though you checked your /home folder, these files are often inside a hidden folder called .config.
Open your Files (Nautilus).
Go to your Home folder.
Press Ctrl + H on your keyboard. This reveals hidden folders (they all start with a dot).
Navigate to: .config -> autostart
Look for a file named mailspring.desktop or anything containing "mailspring".
Right-click and Delete that file.
Have you rebooted since you removed the application?
Yes, several times.
Was the mailspring application running in background when you uninstalled it? Maybe it can help to install it again (in the same package format which you used for your last installation, probably it was a flatpak), open the app and then quit it as shown in this thread and then to uninstall it. I'm not sure, I haven't used the app myself.
Comes this Window again and again? when You type in Terminal flatpak list what Output do You get?
Wow! Such a simple fix. No pop-ups in the past couple hours. Thank you so much for the help on this. ![]()
