Recommendations for a Basic CAD App (simple, not professional)

There's a possibility that I might be able to buy the place I've been living in for the last few years, and as I already know all its faults, I'm prepared to put in a lot of hard work to drag it out of the 1980s.

When I was in college, I took Technical Drawing to Advanced standard (British A Level and I really enjoyed it too), but I never pursued it into Uni, and I've never touched CAD.

I had a sleepless night last night, while my brain decided to retrieve all my TD memories from archive... I'm surprised how much I remember without even putting pencil to paper, BUT, I don't have the space or equipment to draw plans out (plus, I have C A T S... :black_cat: :cat: :cat2: multiple, pesky ones...). However, I do have computers I could use.

Could anyone tell me if LibreOffice Draw is any good? I'm very lucky that the property is almost perfectly square, and only one floor, so it's not a complicated project. I'm going to search for YouTube tutorials but if anyone knows of a good one, or even another FOSS app I can run in Zorin, I'd really appreciate the advice.

TIA

GNU/Linux has freeCAD. Just look for it in Software or Synaptic Package Manager. If you are wanting 3d then there is Blender.

Another for FreeCAD or Design which is a Gnome app.

A big advantage to FreeCad is the muliple workbenches it has. This allows you to design whatever in a way that you may already be familiar with. I personally like using the Mesh bench for working with parts for 3D printing. For designing a new part I use the Part bench which lets you pick a shape and then adjust the size and position of it and then you can merge it with another shape to easily make a more complex object.

There somewhat of a learning curve to it. But there are plenty of videos online to help in any area you need help in.

Thanks @swarfendor437 , @citfta and @banger. I've got a few hours this weekend, so I'll have a play with your suggestions. I do love a good video tutorial too, that way I can watch and work at the same time.
