Request: Factory Reset, App Cleanup, and Developer Mode for Zorin OS

Hi Zorin Team,

First of all, I'm not a developer—just a regular user who loves your OS. I really appreciate the clean design and Windows-like experience — great work!

However, I have a few suggestions that I believe would make Zorin OS even better for beginners like me:

  1. Add a Full System Reset Option
Please consider adding a built-in option to reset Zorin OS to factory settings, similar to the Windows Reset feature. This would:

Remove all user files and settings

Restore all system defaults

Help users resolve issues without needing a full reinstallation

  1. Improve App & File Management (Especially for APT, DEB, AppImage)
One of the most confusing aspects of Linux for beginners is file and app management, especially when installing apps via:

apt (APT package manager)

.deb packages

AppImages

It's difficult to understand where the files go and how to manage them afterward. There’s no single graphical interface to view or uninstall all types of apps in one place.

Please consider adding a visual app manager that clearly shows:

All installed apps (from APT, Flatpak, DEB, AppImage, etc.)

Where each app is stored on the system

An easy way to remove or manage each of them

  1. Hide System Python Libraries and Developer Tools from Beginners
When I run pip list, I often see system-level or OS-related Python libraries that I never installed. This is very confusing, especially for non-developers.

It's also easy to accidentally install Python packages globally (outside of a virtual environment), which can break the system.

Suggestion:

Add a "Developer Mode" or "Advanced OS Customization" toggle

Hide or separate OS/system-level Python packages and developer tools by default

Allow access, editing, or management of those files only when this mode is enabled

This would prevent new or casual users from accidentally deleting or modifying important files, while still offering power and flexibility to advanced users when needed.
