Screen resolution when mirroring to second display

I am having trouble with the screen resolution when mirroring to a second display. Display resolution and aspect ratio is good when using laptop built in display only - the image (Zorin desktop) fits to the display when using only the built in display.
The Laptop is set up as Dual boot Win10pro or Zorin17 (core).
I can only get 4:3 aspect ratio on both displays when mirroring to a second display in Zorin17.
This problem is not seen in Win10 so I assume not a hardware limitation but more likely a driver/config issue.
Some more details:
OS: Zorin 17 Core
Hardware: ASUS X401A1 Laptop, Pentiun B970 CPU, Intel HD Graphics.
Xrandr reports 1360x768 (16:9) as best and chosen mode when using single (built in) display.
Xrandr reports 1024x768 (4:3) as best and chosen mode for both displays when using mirror displays. All other options are lower resolution.
Second display is a Samsung TV connected by HDMI.

Any advice on how to get better resolutions and aspect ratio when using mirrored display? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum!

Does You System run in Wayland or X11? You can check that in Settings>About. When it runs in Wayland, I would siggest to try it with switching to X11/Xorg.

To do that, go to the Login Screen. Click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When it is appeared, You should see a Gear Icon in the bottom right corner. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in.

It must have been running wayland. The displays were named 'wayland0' and 'wayland1'. I have done as you say regarding action to take at login screen and now have mirrored display at what I think is 1280x720 on both built in display and Samsung TV.
Thanks for your response on this.

Can You now set up Your Screenresolutions like You want to have it?

What I have now is much better than before - the main improvement is I now have 16:9 aspect ratio so use full screen rather than have black bars at either side. The resolution is also better now so I can live with things as they are now.
Curiously the resolution is not as good as achieved in Win10 which reported as follows:
Internal display:
Desktop resolution: 1366x768
Active signal resolution: 1366x768
Refresh rate: 59.989 Hz
Bit depth: 8 bit
Colour format: RGB
Colour space: SDR
Samsung display:
Desktop resolution: 1366x768
Active signal resolution: 1920x1080
Refresh rate: 59.940 Hz
Bit depth: 8 bit
Colour format: RGB
Colour space: SDR

So, You want a FullHD Resolution?

The resolution I have now is OK thanks. I was just curious that Win10 and Zorin17 achieved different resolutions and wondered why that might be - but not something that must be resolved thanks.
