Is it possible to get the screenshot tool to let you save a named file (save as) instead of automatically saving it to a folder with just numbers. Can you configure it if so good because I can't find it in the menu.
Installed shutter but when I clicked on it in the menu nothing didn't even open up. No idea what's going on there.
I don't think what you're wanting to do is possible with the built-in screenshot tool. However, I do what your wanting with Gradia in the Software Store. It integrates with the built-in tool and allows you to save as in a secondary step.
check flameshot if you're on x11
On Wayland it didn't work to well.
You can install gnome-screenshot. I use it myself because it offers a time delay and you are asked where to save the file and how to name it. It also works on Wayland.
You can install it with
sudo apt install gnome-screenshot
If you like, you can create a custom shortcut to open gnome-screenshot when you press the print key.

I disagree. I've had no issues with Gradia on Wayland.
its depends @yetimaan if your using nvidia or amd vid cards nvidia dont play well with wayland.....

Gnome screenshot is more what I'm looking for just tested it. I'd still like to know why shutter wouldn't start from the menu. Any ideas?
Probably it is a Wayland problem. Did you try it with Xorg? Logout and at login click on your username then a cog wheal appears at the bottom right corner, there you can switch between Xorg and Wayland.
Does Shutter was installed as flatpak ?
Understood. I'm using AMD and have no issues. Must be an Nvidia issue.

Yes wayland is so problematic with many tools. For example flameshot has 10 workaround to fix the issue on wayland and for most of the people it's still not working.
Meanwhile gnome 50 already dropped x11, Flatpak packaging system is being re-written in Rust, dropping X11 support, with hard requirements on Systemd and Wayland. It's really sad.
