Wow. That is just sad! I'm glad I didn't buy this, tbh. I'd have been beyond frustrated.
Regardless of whether you are playing It Takes Two with a romantic partner or not, both players have to be in the mood to play a game about divorce. It's a pity that the fantastic gameplay is buried under a rather heavy story. When I play coop games, I usually just want to enjoy the game and chat with the other player, not listen to a story together.
Sackboy is still my game of the decade. Great alone, but also has dedicated coop levels. It has a bug on SteamOS where you have to change the launch options but otherwise it's worked fine under Proton. If anyone is looking for a Nintendo-quality platformer experience away from Nintendo hardware, well this is it. Often goes on sale for 50% off.
