There are two items missing that are key in relation to "mainstream" distributions and Red Hat's bludgeoning of other distibutions to adopt:
a) systemd
and later
b) Pulse Audio
both written by Herr Poettinger.
This created a major rift within the ranks of many Debian developers, the large majority of which left Debian to form Devuan which uses the traditional SysVinit to boot the Linux kernel, instead of the goo ball that tries to control all of the system in one behemoth, a bit like that other OS.
This is why I am passionate aabout any distribution that is free of systemd, including dragonflyBSD.
