For the second time I have had my boot system trashed by an internet connection being less than optimal after I hit the Software Updater button. It causes havoc and I get an error trying to boot into Zorin. Can Zorin make an easier way to recognize when the internet connection is good or bad?
I have to start up in a recovery mode to get back into Zorin. It's very frustrating. Right now the only clue the internet is not connected is a slight change in color of the buttons and a small spinning swirl. Is there no way that Sofrtware Updater can first verify a good connection, before it tries to start doing whatever it does that locks up and trashes the system?

My system is dual SSD Dual Boot. I'm unable to get back in to Zorin right now. Tomorrow I'm going to try to boot off the original Zorin OS 18 Pro install USB to see if the file system is still good. I can see the Zorin drive from Windows Disk Management and it looks fine. Is it possible to just reinstall the OS without wiping my file data away?
You could in Live Mode start Nautilus (the File Manager) and navigate to Your System and copy Your Data to an external Drive. Then they would be saved.
but it was a bit of a hassle. I don't know if there is a way for Software Updater to ping the internet connection before it starts or if there is a way for the system to pause until everything is connected better, but this has happened twice to me this year. My internet is usually good, but sometimes it flakes out. Anyway, all is good again.
