[Solved] Laptops and Zorin

From what I've read, it seems that some laptops can install Linux and others cant. If I bought a used laptop with Mint or Ubuntu installed, could I convert it to Zorin?

If that laptop already can run Ubuntu, chances are that Zorin OS will also be supported, since it's based on Ubuntu.

Keep in mind that the newer the hardware, the less support is likely to have since most drivers are developed by the community. This will be especially true for less common features like fingerprint readers, particularly if the manufacturer uses dedicated proprietary drivers.

I'd just plug in my Ventoy Zorin USB and install?

Try the live mode first to test if everything works first. I always check for things like playing some video, the trackpad and things like that. But yes, it should be a regular installation.

Take a look a this page for some step by step instructions, it may come in handy:

The big question is, how old is the notebook ? What model ?

I don't actually yet have this laptop, but was interested in buying one. So I'll mark it as solved

You are best purchasing a Notebook with TFT screen (Matte). When I was working I asked if I could have an unused notebook as it did not meet Windows 10 requirements. It was a Dell E6500. It had 2Gb RAM and a 280 Gb HDD. I updated the CMOS battery, upgraded the RAM to 8 Gb and upgraded the DVD-CD drive to a DVD-RW drive and replaced the HDD with a Crucial MX500 1 Tb SSD SATA drive. I put MX-Linux 23.1 on it but had to swap out SSD for original as SSD needed for eldest's PC.
