Steam crashes after installing nvidia drivers

I first installed zorin on my computer without the NVIDIA drivers thing. Afterwards I could launch games but my GPU wasn't being detected.n I installed the NVIDIA driver for my 3060ti, the metapackage from nvidia-driver-595-open. Now whenever I go to launch a game steam stops responding and I have to force quit it.

After installing the drivers, I was also unable to open some of my apps, like zoom. Is there anyway I can fix this?

i have the 3050 and use the 570 server driver and have no troubles with it

its on my backup computer was on this main...but i switched to RX 6600XT AMD

  • Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOD disabled?
  • If Windows is still installed: Is Fast Start-Up in Windows disabled?
  • You use the open Driver. Did You tried the non-open Driver?
  • Does Your System run in Wayland or X11? You can check that with the Terminal Command echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE and when it show Wayland, You could try it with switching to X11/Xorg. To do that, go to the Login Screen. Click on your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When it is appeared, You should see a Gear Icon in the bottom right Corner. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in.
  • Is Steam installed as Flatpak or .deb/APT Package?

I typically always run the proprietary Nvidia drivers, not sure how different they are from the open drivers.

I was forced to update to the 580 driver, because it was required, to play Doom The Dark Ages.
