Also, try different Proton versions. Sometimes games will only launch or run proper, with a specific Proton version. I personally like Proton GE.
With POP OS, a family member stopped having success launching any game with with Proton, except Half Life 2. I however am on Zorin OS 16, and I am able to launch most of my games with Proton.
Also, its known that any online multiplayer games that use anti-cheat, will never run on Linux. So, if your trying to launch those kind of games, just forget it, blame anti-cheat for not supporting Linux.
Generally, I usually have success rates with single player games.
good to know, but I kinda gave up on gaming on zorin. not too many things worked for me no matter the proton I use.
There is a second quirk appearing when gaming with mod setups. NTFS and FAT ignore uppercore and lowerscore names in the filesystem. So normally NTFS or FAT sounds like a good idea.
So to say the Linux have to 'emulate' the Windows filesystem behaviour. EXT4 can do 'casefold' and XFS give 'version=ci' when formatting anew. With such setup the filesystem is faster than FAT / NTFS and ignores uppercase and lowercase chars in files and folders. Mods run solide with that. XFS is here even faster than EXT4.
