Zorin don't detect IEC958. And then no sound.

What do you see when you click on the speaker icon on your taskbar?

And which output you need?

Built in/motherboard IEC958.

Can you issue this command and give me the result?

I think this is what you call IEC958.

So your system is detecting it.
It needs a right settings to work.

I think the best way to do it is in PulseAudio.
Could you please install it in terminal?

sudo apt install pavucontrol

Then find PulseAudio in the list of application.

Occassionally, you may see me remark that Alsa Mixer and Pulseaudio do not mix. You need to pick one. This... is a good example of that. Often, people believe you must have Pulseaudio installed for sound- this is also often not the case.

You may try removing Pulseaudio and pavucontrol completely.
Ensure Alsa Mixer is installed. Then use the alsa controls to set up your sound.

That should work. I can't guarantee it... because whenever I feel really confident about the fix I get: "It didn't work." lol
But, it always did for that chipset with this problem before...

Pulseaudio helped! Now I got sound.
It also is after midnight where I live...

I read PainKillers post to say your suggestion to use pulseaudio worked.

And you suggested Painkiller56 to remove PulseAudio and use Alsamixer instead :wink:

I just thought it was quite ironical.

I could be wrong but I usually suggest PulseAudio first then Alsamixer if PulseAudio does not help. Alsamixer is not that easy to use for beginners.
