Switch zorin to use my amd radeon r5 gpu

my pc has a amd radeon r5 gpu along with a intel one (cant remeber details for the intell one), windows 10 recognizes it. but sadly zorin does not. i intend to make zorin my daily driver, so i want it to use my amd gpu. any suggestions to switch my gpu in zorin? i tried installing the offical amd driver's deb files, but nothing has changed.
FYI i'm still a linux noob, and need more detail instructions.

Welcome to the Forum!

Depending on Your BIOS, You should be able to set that up there.

i did go in bios and selected radeon as primary instead of intel but it just switched the placement in about

And did You disabled the iGPU (the Intel Graphics)?

i looked into disabling the igpu and the only option was trying turning off multi-displays but since it didnt change anything i put it back on. i did read somewhere that if you set the gpu setting to auto that the igpu would get disabled automatically so i tried it. now zorin only has one gpu in the about section.

not sure why it still says oland instead of amd but i guess we're getting somewhere?

Please type in the Terminal the command sudo lshw -C video and post the Output here. This Command shows the Hardware for Video Stuff - including Graphics Card. OLAND could be the used built-in Driver for Your Card.

btw i ended up switching from auto bc zorin kept freezing on me. i guess using both graphics cards is the better option for now.

So, Oland seems to stand for the Graphics Card or the used Driver for it. Then it should be in Usage.

ok thanks, guess i can stop going insane over it

my last question is what does the description mean? vga / display controller. is that the cable i have to use for my monitor?

VGA is a Graphics Standard. And the ''Display Controller'' says that is is for Display Output. These are only common Descriptions.
