Nooooo there are so many good reasons to do this. It's practical and efficient on so many levels.
Just remember you should never store anything in the bush. It could lead to unwanted infections!
Just consider: that screenshot is almost 97.5Kb while the actual game in its entirety is 192Kb. But only a small amount of that could be loaded at a given time (the NES itself had only about 2Kb of RAM) which is why they needed to resort to tricks like those. Quite amazing how clever people can get when forced to work around restrictions!
