I downloaded the set and placed it in the .icon folder of Home ....

I use nemo as my file manager so I just go into usr from there is that the correct way ???? ... I did use the sudo i command but it appears to take me to the same xnview.desktop file ....
This command elevates to Root:
sudo -i
This command launches your file manager elevated to root:
nemo
In the now elevated File Manager, you can navigate to that same directory, but with ROOT permissions, not USER permissions.

Yup .... I just found that out .... sorry .... it did change the icon .... see photo .... not to restart and see if the icon will change be right back .....
OK I finally got it to work I did the sudo -i command and then changed the XnView MP to Icon=xnviewmp ..... restarted and then changed the system settings / themes to a different icon set then back to Black Sun and wala it works .....
Thank you Storm and Aravisian ..... I have now entered the
sudo -i command in my little black book ..... sorry for all the confusion ....

You are in the usr Path. so, You need sudo Rights to change it. Open the Terminal and type sudo nano /usr/share/applications/XnView.desktop make the Changes and then press ctrl+o to save it, Enter to confrm and ctrl+x to exit.

Optional: Install Papirus icon theme: Papirus - pling.com as Black Sun icon theme can draw from Papirus' actions icons. It looks best that way.

OK I'm back .... it looks very nice Storm ..... everything works ..... do you see any round theme icons in your future ???? ..... but I do like this one a lot .... thank you for all your hard work ....

Maybe. I'm looking into it on which theme and style I should do with round icons.

OK no rush .... by the way the XnView MP icon now changes with just about all the icon sets I now have .... I just wish the 4K Video Downloader and FreeOffice ones would I could use them on all icon sets ..... I could use my Simply Circles icon sets and that would solve the circle icon request ....

Maybe Your GreyStone Icon Set ... I could imagine that it would look good with round Icons.

I agree it looks like that would be the best one to start with and then also make a white or black set in that style as everything seems to go with those colors ..... JMHO .... LOL
