i have zorinos 17 installed on thinkpad X230.
When I leave the laptop unattended for 5 minutes, all the apps are killed and the system locks itself.
then, i have to restart all the apps
What do I need to change to prevent this behavior?

You could control the Privacy Settings. Go to Settings=>Privacy=>Display:
Another Place that You could control are the Energy Settings (Settings=>Energy):
Look on both if there is a Time Limit set and how the Screen Lock is configured.
