I have updated to Zorin 18 and I'm now at a point where I would like to make it my main OS (currently dual booting W10).
One issue I have on my laptop though is how poor and imprecise the touchpad feels.
After fiddling around with it, the issue seems two-fold:
First, there appears to be a deadzone for small movements. I try to move the cursor a small amount and it does nothing despite clear finger movement, but then suddenly jumps around 1cm or more (on a 13" screen).
Secondly, there doesn't appear to be any kind of mouse smoothing. The cursor does not move smoothly and 'jitters' around when making movements, particularly when trying to be precise.
Both these things add up to a touchpad / cursor that is frustrating to use and I often have to take a few seconds just to be able to correctly click on buttons and links etc.
This means I'm reluctant to use Zorin as my main laptop OS if I can't resolve these issues.
By the way, I don't have this issue under W10.
I can't see any settings that would allow me to adjust dead zones or enable mouse smoothing.
I've logged in using Xorg and it is much smoother and more precise. However, now i have a different problem: nonen of the settings in the touchpad settings do anything! changing the cursor speed does nothing and changing the scroll direction also does nothing. I have done a restart but it's still not changing.

apparently you find the first step I would suggested, Xorg...
Now go to your BIOS and if it's not, disable Secure Boot, you can also watch in you BIOS if there is no option for Touchpad (in mine I have some).
After we will see what we can do if this things didn't fix your problem

And in Windows please disable fast startup at power management if it is enabled.

To have it in Detail: Is it only better in Comparision to Wayland or do You have now a common smooth Experience?
Did You tried it with connecting a Mouse? If yes: Behaved it better?
What Graphics Card do You have? How are Resolution and Refresh Rate set up? Is Fractional Scaling active?

I had been battling getting Zorin installed from USB as I wanted to see if the problem was still there on a fresh install.
Unfortunately, it is still there. Fast boot and secure boot is already disabled.
Additionally, using Xorg doesn't seem to be any different now.
This deadzone is a nightmare and already making me want to go back to Windows!
Also, using a usb mouse doesn't have this problem.
It's an Intel integrated 505.
Resolution is 1080p 60hz 100%.
No fractional scaling.
