This morning there was a new kernel release of 7.0.0.29. Not sure if zorin has gotten it yet or if you all will get it here it what was changed in this release

Ah...ok im not currently on zorin but i saw the newer kernel..and figured i would post what maybe coming soon is all.....looks like it would solve alot of the problems in the 7.0.0.28 version
I've been following the threads on Zorin 18 (I'm still on 17.3) using kernel 7 because my Mint version 22.1 is still using 6.8.0-137-general ....
I just checked and found the latest version of Mint is 22.3 wonder why I didn't get the latest update ???? .... very interesting .... gotta check this out .... anyone know ???? ....
You can install on Linux Mint also kernel 7.0 (Method 1). The guide is a bit too old, you should have also the kernel 7.0 in the list of available kernels.
I personally see it as a major advantage that Linux Mint 22.1 uses the 6.8 ga kernel by default and never simply installs new hwe kernels without asking, via automatic updates. You have to do the update in the app manually if you like to install another kernel.
Thanks Forpli .... I just finished installing the 22.3 version found it in the Update Manager under New Versions (or something like that) as I already updated it is no longer there .... apparently Mint wants you to install it from that location rather than the normal updates ..... as to the kernel it to is listed up there along with a stern warning (photo posted below) ....
It was easy peasy and took all of about 36 minutes .... best part is I had zero non Mint proprietary programs to load back .... all my 3rd person apts were there and functioning properly .... what a joy to update your OS to a newer version .... easiest one I every did ..... think I will stick with the kernel they recommend as they do update those every so often ....
You also would get regulary updates for the kernel 7.0. But if there would be released another hwe kernel before the end of life of LM 22 , then you should update to the next higher hwe kernel.
The warning is always shown in LM, because kernel updates can cause problems on some computers as you have seen in the Zorin forum after the kernel 7.0 update. If you don't have the latest hardware, you can stay with kernel 6.8. It is the easiest way and less risky.
This laptop is around 5-6 years old and no new hardware is foreseen in it's future ...LOL .... so I guess unless they update from the Update Manager I'll just stay as I am .... thanks for the help ....
