An 80s Pro Found the Freedom He’s Been Seeking for Decades in Zorin OS

I first discovered Zorin OS in late February 2026, and I’m loving the experience. Since installing it, I’ve been studying it, testing it, and I'm already setting up a workspace for my team to use it. I’m fully customizing it for my specific workflow.
I still have Windows on another SSD, but I gave Zorin a brand-new SSD all to itself. My goal is to make it my main system for work. Thank God something has finally come along to free us from the old business models of the competitors; the environment with them has become so toxic and just doesn't meet the user's needs anymore.
A bit of my story:
I entered the digital world in the 80s after seeing a foreign design magazine. The first stories and experiments with drawing software were just starting to emerge. I got interested—even seeing it as a survival move—because I could see the future right there. I bought several foreign magazines that came with CDs, financed a PC, and started the journey.
Back then, I also crossed paths with Linux, but the market was rigged and pushed toward the competition. Time passed, and I eventually forgot about Linux. Then, through a YouTube channel called Diolinux, I tuned in, got hooked, and now I’m diving in headfirst—and for good reason.
How I feel today:
You guys have brought us this miracle, especially for those of us who spent our entire professional lives tied to the competition. I feel comfortable because a real ecosystem is finally forming around Linux—and Zorin specifically—with apps for graphic design, 3D projects, architecture, and even video editing.
It makes me happy to know someone is thinking outside the box. The current environment is a vicious cycle: the more you pay, the more they try to bleed you dry. At the end of the day, our work doesn't even bring home enough for our families.
