Unable to boot & install Zorin 17.1 in surface pro 9

Hi,
Need some help from zorin team / surface pro users. I am trying to install Zorin 17.1 in a 128GB external SSD using surface pro 9 (This is because i want to use zorin with SP9 once everything is fine). The things i have done in windows 11 UEFI:

  1. Disabled certificated.
  2. Changed the order to boot from usb as first option. (Even disabled windows mbr).

Issue:

  1. I created a usb bootable zorin 17.1 core pen drive with gpt, formatted in fat32.
  2. The system boots into the bootloader so fast i cant even see what is displayed.
  3. It runs the disk check which i am able to see and its 100% fine.
  4. Then it stops at black screen without proceeding further.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum!

Maybe you should try instead of GPT MBR for Your bootable Stick.

Okay, then we take a Look at some basic Stuff:

Did You verified the Checksum of the ISO File?
What Tool did you used to create the bootable USB Stick?
Did you tried different USB Sticks?
Did you tried different USB Ports?
Is Secure Boot in BIOS disabled?
Is Fast Boot in Windows disabled?

Okay, that sound so far all good for me ... and You wrote that you tried it with GPT and MBR ... Do you have in Your Machine a Nvidia Card? If yes, did You tried the Start with Nvidia Drivers?

My surface pro has Iris Xe card and not nvidia card.

Hmm ... maybe there are an Compatibility Issue. Did You tested other Distro's like Linux Mint to see if there is the same Issue?

Linux mint also does not install.

Hmm ... then I would think that it could be a Compatibility Issue. But I don't have enough Knowledge for this to say that surely. But we have here other more experienced Users like @Aravisian, @zenzen or @swarfendor437 who have way better Knowledge that me. Maybe they can help You better.

If blank screen, I would first check Graphics. Your biggest issue at that point is the thing loading so fast... but you want to see the Grub Menu that should appear right after the motherboard splash screen that displays

  • Try or install Zorin
  • Try or install Zorin (safe graphics)

and choose the second option: Safe Graphics

I'm afraid this falls a little too far beyond my skills on hardware troubleshooting
