Unable to login to Wayland session directly - Need to use X11 first

Not sure if this is by design, can't imagine it would be. But I am unable to login directly to a Waylan Desktop session.

I can login to an X11 session, logout and login to a Waylan session but when I reboot, Waylan is not available immediately, I must login to X11 first, logout and then login to Waylan.

Thoughts?

What graphics card are you using?

Wayland balks at certain hardware. And Wayland uses XWayland when needed, which is the Xserver - users will think they are on and running Wayland, when it is actually X11 backend with Wayland overlaid atop it.

Nvidia 3070.

I had no idea. That's likely what's going on.

Nvidia 3070 should be compatible if using a late enough driver. Are you on the Nvidia-driver-580-open?

Yup

Try the first option -open (proprietary, tested)

Yeah no luck there, 1st option failed to login to Waylan directly and dropped a bunch of other drivers. So restored from last nights backup and good again.

But You have the Options for Wayland and Xorg on the Login Screen, yes? And could You post the Content of /ect/gdm3/custom.conf please?
