What I personally marked as "highlight, worthwhile, notable". The documents appear to me more as a catalogue, or gallery, a pdf version of the software store than anything else.

Swarf. I have started reading (after some fun and games extracting the pdf from zip download). I have noticed a couple of minor typo's so far.

When I say "highlight" and "notable" and "worthwhile"—you appear to have read "questionable", this must be the stereotypical miscommunication between continental Germans and the British. I actually mean "highlight" and "worthwhile". Go ask an Austrian, this isn't a backhanded complaint.

What I find interesting, is up there. I thought, it's to the benefit of the author, because since when can an author see marginal notes of a reader?

Bitstream Vera Sans version just uploaded - same link, just look for it in the folder. Again, have not dared look at the Contents page being updated. You have been warned! Because I have rearranged elements and hurriedly produced this manual, I have not done the usual painstaking task of denoting 'Headings 1' etc. to create a better hyperlinked Contents menu. Please be patient!

Well, BBC comedy every week, or two, during the Brexit years, made clear to me, that I don't speak British English, when I believe to speak English, I understood most jokes, but translation-wise none of the comedy would be funny in German, and I'm in the former "sector" for the then British Forces Germany, where we believe to have some affinity.

OK, spotted some monumental errors in the Mk.I edition of the Unofficial Manual for Zorin 18. I appear to have lost all my Text files so had to download the pdf version and I am slowly going through it, page at a time using Okular and then amending any errors. Mk.II edition will first be constructed using BitStream Vera Sans font (closest to Arial), which will be followed by a Mk.II Comic Relief version in due course.

OK, completed the Menu elements of the Manual and have uploaded in .docx format here (removed 8.02.2026:

No contents and no page numbers for now.

22.02.2026 - a bit more done. Still no page numbers or contents page/s - will do this on completion.

pdf and .docx file of Mk.II w.i.p. (work in progress) almost complete. Need to make changes to Power Settings - Presentation not present for me as using a VM!

Removed obsolete hyperlinks where I had acknowledged some sources for the login loop, it has been taken over by a scam site so removed from the manual. Have checked all (A.F.A.I.K.) all hyperlinks and rectified with new ones.

Have departed slightly in the manual and posted Tech Rights links which makes some very interesting reading on UEFI.

I have deleted the Mk.I versions of the Manual as they were atrocious in terms of misplaced text over images, images in the wrong place. Please let me know anyone if there are any major issues. Many thanks.

This is a request for confirmation (or otherwise), that the power options include 'Presentation mode' on a bare metal install as I use a VM of Zorin to take screenshots. Obviously, when using a VM you don't have access to Power stats as it is not on bare metal.
If presentation mode/high use mode is available, can someone running Core please take a screen shot and DM me, or post here.

My other bits I need to include are:

ClamUI - which I can do

Rufus - both mbr and GPT setting screenshots if someone could provide.

Ventoy - I will do shots for that.

VPNs - I can do RiseUp! but not Proton: If someone could upload edited screenshots to maintain privacy and useful instructions (in clear English with correct spelling and grammar) would be appreciated.

If there is anything else please let me know (Winboat does my head in) so if you want that included someone will have to prepare that in its entirety (in English with correct spelling and grammar).

Once all these elements have been put together in the Unofficial Manual .docx file I will attempt to see how it goes with my Betahtesting version of SoftMaker Office NX.

If you think there are any other crucial elements I have overlooked pleas say so now (NAS, Networking with other computers will need input from others, not me as I don't share).

Finally updated to what I consider to be the final.

This should lead to the same spot which I have renamed as per renamed thread title.

However, I realised after converting to .pdf that I had omitted to go through and cross-reference items such as LibreOffice Draw - this has already been covered on page ...[missing].

I opened the .docx file created in TextMaker 2024 and was flabbergasted that it had gone doolally and all the images are out of place after I had specifically tagged it as 'fixed on page'!!!! Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh!

Once i have redone it yet again, I will use LibreOffice to export to epub as it is better than TextMaker in doing it. Hey ho!

Just to add I will not be doing a manual for Zorin 19.

I will be eventually departing to other forums of distributions I can live with. :wink:
