In the Browser Settings, are you using System Titlebars and Borders?
Are you using the Browser supplied theme or is it set to use GTK Theme?

i use it out of the box. no changes made. as it is delivered with Zorin 18 in the default config.
Browsers inject their own theme.
So it may be within the chromium.css that the issue is.
You can find out - in the settings set it to use the GTK theme.
Close and relaunch the browser and test text-selection.
by default it uses the GTK theme.
only when changing it to darkmode i can read the selected text
the classic theme or any other brave theme doesnt change this either
There should be a slider a bit further down where you can enable "use system theme" or similar (I'm not at the computer in the moment).
Each of these points excludes a theme issue; so again, this is highly looking likely as a Chromium Bug.
Chromium based browsers rely on internal .css which is injected in - even if set to GTK. This is why some things match the system, but not everything.
Have you tested with Hardware Acceleration disabled?
It is possible that since it is a rendering issue - and missing in dark mode - that using Wayland may be the culprit. You can test logging out, switching to Zorin on Xorg, logging in, launching Brave and testing.
Aside from that - is Brave Browser up to date?

i was able to isolate the problem. it happens after switching from the classic theme, which is applied by default, to the GTK Theme. Once the GTK Theme is applied, even switching back to Classic will not resolve the issue and you need to delete the browser profile and start fresh.
