UX: Feedback on UI Element Distinction and Contrast

Hello there!

I think some interface elements need to be better distinguished from one another when their boundaries are close, or when certain wallpaper/window colors are in the background.

I love Zorin's design choices in general. This is not necessarily a suggestion regarding the design aesthetic itself, but rather a user experience (UX) improvement.

A simple one-pixel contrast line around the taskbar (and other windows) would greatly increase the system's usability. Sometimes it is hard to quickly distinguish elements and their boundaries, which creates a strange feeling when navigating the system.

I’m sure other users feel the same, even if they can't pinpoint exactly why.

Other techniques could also be used, such as color gradients near the borders or shadows around the objects.

Thank you all for your time!

This is great feedback, and I agree with everything that you are saying, but I fear Gnome will prevent these changes, because its such a locked down DE. In the future, Gnome 50 is even more locked down, and is in no way, better then Microslop, Still, I hope that the Zorin team notices this, and can come up with something.

A bit parallel doubt: I'm not an expert on desktop environments, but what do you think of KDE Plasma?

I've heard it's very customizable and seems like it could replicate the look and feel of Zorin.

Something that Zorin's Team could use in the future?
