I've been having an issue on Zorin OS when creating web apps.
When I pin the app icon to the taskbar and click on it, instead of opening the corresponding window, a generic gear icon appears. In addition, I can't minimize the app by clicking its pinned icon.
For example, when I create a web app for Photoshop Online, the system opens a new Photoshop window instead of recognizing and using the one that's already open.
Will this issue be fixed in future Zorin OS updates?
I will say ; if using GNU/Linux systems, why not use free (open source) web browser such as Firefox or Brave ?
I do understand that people who comes from Windows like to keep their habits.
Anyway - Wepp App seems to work in Zorin 18 if you set it with Firefox. At least in my test.
I just tried with Edge and problem remains just as it does with Brave ...
Hi, I just found that the cosmetical problem only occurs using Wayland. By switching to X.org the problem no longer occurs and the Icons are correctly displayed.
Microsoft Edge is what I use for all PWAs. It works a lot better than all the other Chromium based browsers IMHO. I prefer Brave for all my actual Browsing, but Edge manages and runs WebApps much better!
I can't stand Firefox, it's a disaster on so many levels (again, just IMHO).
Everyone "should" know, all the talk about different chromium based browsers is really no different than all the talk about different Distros of Ubuntu, Debian, RedHat, etc. They are all chromium at the core. It just depends which "flavor" you want.
Google Chrome = Ubuntu
Microsoft Edge = Linux Mint
Brave = Zorin
Chromium = Lubuntu
Canary = Xubuntu
Opera = ElementaryOS
Vivaldi = Pop! OS
***But yes, I agree with @LukeSiren, run xorg and not wayland.
OK. I use Firefox since a very long time. Started Gnu/Linux in 2009 with Ubuntu, then Fedora, Opensuse, Debian - I mostly use Firefox as a daily web browser. 4 computers at home with different distro, different uses - work, browsing, with versions snaps, Flatpak, .deb ... I don't have to complain.
Some questions will be more related to the notion of free software and of mozilla position.
But Brave is always around and i appreciate that Zorin propose another way of browsing web trought it.
