It's becoming more common for distros to have very commonly used apps "offered" either during the installation or at the first login.
One of the most challenging things for new users is installing software via the "right" avenue. Everyone says, for example, install the .deb of Steam. Same with Firefox. But there's every chance people will install a Flatpak and have complications as a result.
Obviously, what should be in the list is subjective, but i'm sure there'd be half a dozen or so super common choices. Other distros manage it, Zorin can too.
Hi, I think the problem is in part due to the fact that Zorin uses a lot of elements from Ubuntu. Even the help section is based on Ubuntu rather than Zorin which is one reason why I attempted to write an Unofficial Manual for Zorin 6, then 9 which was superseded by GEWB's excellent guide to Zorin 9. My first 'successful' manual was for 12, then 15, 17 and w.i.p. 18.
Yes there are others out there that have a nice welcome screen, particularly Debian based Distros such as Q4OS which I believe brings something more familiar to Windows users.
The Application Installer link in the welcome screen gives Flatpak as an option. Everything by default is .deb.
Timeshift is listed in the Application list.
Vanilla OS has an interesting Way here. During Installation You can toggle on/off certain Groups but You can in every Group toggle on/off individual Software. I really liked it as I saw that.
