Well Brave Does It Again

They just can't leave MY choices alone for my Start Page .... they have set it up to their likes and not mine .... Time was moved from the top right to the top left and replaced the left with a customizing button which was in the lower left before ....

My quick load favorites went to the top center from the top left ..... now only shows six icons with 2 toggle buttons under them for 12 more ... before it showed 12 icons in the top right hand side .....

A completely useless tiny search bar under the favorites icons ....

All the above changes are done in white only color which means I had to change my background from a nice photo to a solid gray so I could read all of the above changes ..... see photos before and present ....

I can find no way to change anything back in the settings for Brave .... if you can please let me know how .... thanks

Background before

Background after with all other changes .... Favorites .... Time etc

Actually it is kinda simplistic in appearance and I guess I could get used to it but it just irks me that they just decided to change it themselves .....

I did find out how to increase or decrease the number of favorites on my start screen .... if you hover over the icons a hamburger menu on the right side opens up allowing you to make a few changes one of which is to show 6 ... 12 or 18 favorite websites on your Start Page ....

And yes I am getting used to and like the new look of unclutterment ... new word ... LOL

Hi Frog,

In terms of the silly small search bar (I find those annoying too), there doesn't appear to be a way to remove it:

The mini search bar below the favorite icons on the Brave browser's home page, often referred to as the "search your tabs" bar, cannot be directly disabled through standard settings. While there is a setting labeled "Show tab search button" under Brave Settings > Appearance > Tabs, this option may not be effective in removing the feature on all platforms, particularly on desktop.
Some users have reported that even when this option is toggled off, the search bar remains visible.

For mobile users, there is no option to disable this feature directly within the app settings, and attempts to use flags like "Android Hub Search" or "Android Hub Tab Group Search" in chrome://flags have been reported as ineffective.
The feature appears to be enabled by default and lacks a user-controlled toggle for removal.

The Brave browser's design prioritizes certain features, and users have expressed frustration over the lack of control, with some noting that the feature is "forced on" without a clear way to disable it.
As of now, there is no confirmed method to remove the mini search bar below the favorite icons on the home page through standard settings or flags.

It looks like in the new Brave update that brought all those nice new changes they also gave you the ability to remove that annoying mini-search bar just found this by accident yesterday ....

The cure ....

By the way I'm still using one of Desktop Backgrounds you posted a while back .... another example of simplicity but effective
