What is a good Linux based audio editor?

I am very new to Zorin. 72 hours in fact! I am impressed with the system, but I'd like to have some alternatives to Audacity, which I am having trouble loading plug-ins with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It will depend what sort of audio work you want to do, are you focusing on vocal, music or media audio. There will be different specialist apps for each. Check the Software app for listings.

Hi there, I would recommended that you stay with Audacity, and endeavour to try the many different ways of installing it, because I found that depending on the installer 'package" the app was capable of different functions once installed, due to a slight difference in the way/location/privileges that it was installed with/on Zorin's file system.

I would be curious to know if Tenacity can handle plugins. I won't touch Audacity these days since it was taken over by a company that records what you are using the App for.

Well just checked. Tenacity can utilise Audacity plugins but only VST2, VST3 is in the works but not known when it will be available. (Tenacity was created in response to Audacity becoming spyware, I still have version 2.2 on my hardly used Windows Drive, it became spyware with version 3.)

Ardour might be a better option:

I found many threads complaining musicians about the bad support of vst3 plugins in Linux. I'm not sure if it would help to test the beta version of the portable appimage 4.0 version of audacity to see if it is better there.

I have opted for Tenacity. I installed FFMEPG through Terminal, but I'm still having plugin problems. Hopefully they are working on this.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'm getting great audio since I got Pipewire configured, and I don't miss Windows at all.
