What is the best/easiest printer/scanner for Zorin

My friend has Zorin on his laptop, loves it, I run it also, and yes I paid for the best version. My question for both him and myself is this, what is the easiest/best printer/scanner to get. We would like one that Zoriun will easily recognize and use, HPLIP won’t install for his HP 6600, and we are both tired of fighting with it. What do you all suggest?

I have an HP Office Jet 6500. It connected easily w/ Zorin however wirelessly. I haven’t tried w/ a USB as I run Zorin on a laptop. I haven’t tried scanning anything with it.

One way to look at it:
You can look for “printer driver” on Synaptic. It lists a bunch of them.
Some of those results under “printer-driver” provide more detailed make and model. This way, if a straight plug & play doesn’t work, you can install the drivers from Synaptic.

Most HP printers work great with Linux out of the box, but HP printers are usually very expensive to run. I have been using Brother multifunction printers (currently a DCP-J774DW) for years. Brother devices work just as well, but are much cheaper to run.
