That's really interesting... I now wonder if some of the seemingly random glitches that sometimes happen may be due to this.
At some point I do plan on having my own little home server. One reason I was hesitant to keep it on all day is also because of electricity, but this may actually be a good reason to overlook that 
Of course I'd try to go for ARM computers that are more energy efficient anyway.
