When i click open File Location in Notifications it doesnt work

Hi, i just sent a file from my Phone to My PC using Zorin Connect, and got this Notification.

The Problem is that when i click there, the File location only opens when there is already an active Window of my File Manager, or else it just does nothing.
(same with Opening downloaded Files trough Apps Like Zen Browser)

Would be great if anyone could help me with that, thx

Welcome to the Forum!

So, You click on it and it just happens nothing if not Nautilus (the File Manager) is already open?

If zen browser is installed as flatpak, also install flatseal and then set the permissions for zen browser to grant access to users files.

yes, exactly

ok, now its weird, it still doesnt open the file manager in zen now, but if i open nautilus myself all the folders i tried to open through zen before open up.

It also works if i recently started nautilus, but after a certain time it doesnt work anymore

Are you using Wayland or XOrg? The default one is Wayland if you haven't changed it.
You could switch to Xorg and look if that helps. Logout and at loginscreen click on your username, then a cogwheel appears at the bottom right. Click there and select "Zorin desktop on Xorg". Then login with your password.

i only see these options there:

  • xfce
  • Zorin Desktop (selected by Default)
  • Zorin Desktop on Wayland

Selecting Wayland doesnt resolve the issue

So your OS is Zorin lite? If yes, please change your forum's profile. In Zorin lite XOrg is the default one.

Okay, the System should run in Xorg. To be sure, You can check that in Settings>About. There You should find X11 as Display Manager.

Did You tried instead of Zorin connect KDE Connect? It is - more or less - the same but from KDE.

Zorin Connect is a gnome extension. It is not present on Zorin OS Lite.

I use KDE Connect on Lite, since KDE Connect, upon which GSConnect and Zorin Connect are based, is modular and works across desktops.

Nautilus also is the Zorin Core default File Manager. On Lite, it is Thunar.

So I must guess that the O.P. is using Core, but installed XFCE, but is using Gnome... This is confusing.

no, i use the normal Zorin

i use Zorin OS Core

and im confused because to my Knowledge i didnt install xfce XD

hmm, i checked the apt logs and it appears i did in fact install it manually (Schizophrenia).

I removed it now, idk

so, i tried it again after removing XFCE, and now its working...
thanks y'all for your help : )
