You are constant as the northern star. You may prepare your bookmarks for the Zorin OS 18 release. Then when your ready, you shall jump once more into the breech, a venture worth doing, an experience worth living.

Shall i cry havoc as well?.....

Firefox has become almost unusable. It runs slow and sometimes pages won't even load, and tabs randomly freeze or clicking the actual tab does nothing.
I tried to sync it on another PC and it would not transfer me settings like it had before. In fact it cleared my Cookie settings so it logged me out of my daily pages.
I tried Brave and it was clean and snappy, and it took less time to setup from scratch than it took me to try and fail to sync Firefox.
I also like how it allows me to customize what appears, so no "popular" visited sites or other junk cluttering the home screen if I choose.

How did you install your Firefox? That could be an important factor affecting performance.

Downloaded it and installed it years ago to replace Chrome. It's gotten worse over time.

I've used Brave for years and LibreWolf, but I prefer Brave.

Side comment on Synchronisation. As Firefox is heavily swamped by Google (as is Thunderbird) I've always shied away from Synchronisation as I can't help but feel it is a form of identifying you and where you are.

I prefer using different browsers for different purposes. This is good for privacy but also with keeping things organized, including things like extensions and bookmarks, which can grow quickly if you don't keep an eye on it.

Since Mozilla announced its new privacy policy, I've been using Brave, Vivaldi and Librewolf. I'm quite pleased with Vivaldi in particular, which I've tried many times before and there was always some problem with it, but it seems they're now finally at a good stage. I even installed it in my phone to give it try.

This may not be Firefox fault. I'm not saying that is the case for you based on what you're describing, but the web being overtaken by Google does have its downsides:

Windows certainly doesn't help anything. It's a bloated pig.

I use Floorp for my browser. I couldn't quite configure Brave the way I wanted.

Browser\OS Android Linux & Windows
Chromium / Chrome Via + WebView Slimjet
Firefox Tor Browser Tor Browser
Bookmarks Zotero
  • Via is lightweight frontend to the system webview, which is the built-in Chrome, it can block ads, images, and turn off javascript.

I tried Vivaldi but it's way too cluttered and shoves unwanted stuff on you. I could never get it to look and function the way I wanted. I don't know if it lacks that customization or because the settings are just as sloppy and cluttered as the browser.
I clicked the import from Firefox but I never got my bookmarks, either.

I tried Brave and was able to get my Bookmarks, remove the couple of unobtrusive suggested items on the home page, and configure it just how I wanted in about two minutes.

Libre Wolf as mine

Ohhhhh the clutter, the clutter is real. Ivw gotten lost in all the clutter, ive fallen in it, felt like i bathed in it. Just to get to my homes portal, i felt like i entered Narnia, and had to battle the paper queen. To make matters worse, she wasnt even using 4 ply, she was using single ply, ohhhh the horror, what a world, what a world. Clutter, it will get you in tge end. Ive gone from the abyss and back again, not a pretty sight.

I have been using Vivaldi for a number of years, actually starting when I used Windows OS. But last year's "Recall" push (taking screen shots & remitting every 3 or so seconds back to the MS mothership server) destroyed any remaining trust I had in MS. Then I bought a new minicomputer and installed Zorin Pro 17 on it and was delighted to discover that Vivaldi has a Linux-compatible release of their browser, so I installed that too and have been happily using it ever since. To me, it is by far the most customizable yet private browser out there. Plus, they also offer a browser-based email and calendar function which is very good as well. I hope other Zorin and/or Linux users of any distro will install and use Vivaldi as well.

Great job @Texas22Step , you gave Microsoft the Texas double back kick. Nice to have you on the light side of life. The only way they will learn, is when they see their marketshare profits take a dive.
