Why am I seeing such different internet speeds across different OS?

I've got a rather curious issue: internet speed. On my Android phone I get 326 Mbps download. 38 Mbps upload, and a ping of 26. On Windows I get 288.57 Mbps download. 38.63 Mbps upload and a ping of 26 (WiFi). On Zorin, with ether net cable, I'm only getting 84.25 Mbps download, 48.18 upload, and a ping of 25. I checked because I was unable to download Zorin 18. I checked the WiFi speed and it's only 30-something Mbps! Clearly, it's better wired in Zorin but it's not that great. (I have a meeting soon, I'll check back in a couple of hours).

Did You checked in Zorin 18 if the Network Drivers are installed?

Hi @Ponce-De-Leon, no I haven't checked, not sure how to. I always check the software but not drivers, unless they get updated in apt update / upgrade. Is there a command I can use?

Edit: I'm still using 17.3

Is in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates a Driver offered? And what Output do You get with the Command sudo lshw -C network

Thank you. There is nothing in the Additional Drivers.

Looking up RTL8188EE, we can see many people across many distros commenting over a long period of time about this chipset being unreliable or slow.
And several on Mint, Reddit and Arch comment that they tried different kernels and different drivers to no avail.

Your best bet... may be to replace the card with a more reliable one...

Thank you. I did wonder if that was necessary. I will look into it ASAP. Once I have Zorin 18 installed and running on the spare laptop, until then, it is usable.
