Windows patch breaks some Windows-Lunix dual-boot PCs

I recently installed duel boot on my computer with Zorin OS 18 and Windows. Today I read an article that a Windows patch breaks some dual-boot Windows-Linux PCs. Has this problem been fixed? Will it problem affect my PC?

Sorta,
so quick query

Are you multi booting (putting more then one Operating System on a single drive) or Dual Booting (putting one operating system on one drive, and one on another drive.)

I Dual boot, Zorin OS on my the main Drive and windows 10 on my backup drive for weird obscure 90's video games like force commander, HOWEVER I was able to get that running on Linux so it has been entirely unused in the last year or so

Will it affect your PC, if you are running windows and Linux on the same drive sharing space with seperate partitions

Possibly.

Windows is reknown for having updates that effect the bootloader (the thing that loads your operating system) and Windows philosphy is to believe that it is the only thing that can and should exist on your PC ergo things get broken unintentionally by Microsoft and they have no will to fix them.

If it its working for you right now fantastic!! just bare in mind that is something you have the chance of coming across IF they are sharing one drive.

if they are on two separate drives, my own experience is that I have not had a single boot or windows related issue screwing with my PC components or Linux despite them sharing space for ~2 years at this point.

Windows has been known to ruin some dual boot setups. Linux usually uses grub to boot. Microsoft doesn't care much about preserving dual boot. It's not a bad idea to install linux in a separate drive rather than a partition in the main drive if you can, and then select your boot device in bios.

I used to offer this as part of my business, but have changed my stance on this. I am promoting GNU/Linux as a replacement for Windows as it is:

a) more secure and privacy respecting,

and

b) doesn't sell your data to third parties.

Welcome to the Forum!

A short Answer: Could be, but don't have to. The Thing is: What will Windows updating. When it affects the Boot Partiton, it can be that it overwrites hte Boot Partition which means that the Zorin Boot Stuff - when it is saved in the Windows Boot Partition will be deleted. then You would have to use a Zorin Bootstick, start it, choose ''Try Zorin'' to get in Live Mode and there search for Boot Repair and let it run.
