"Windows Programmunterstützung" cannot be installed anymore

Hi there - it's me again.

After some issues with my upgrades I wanted to try a fresh install.

Now I cannot install the windows support in Zorin anymore - It says "preparing" all the time. if I cancel, it says "installed", but cannot be deinstalled, but after restart, there is nothing. It would try to install again....

ok - I now thought it is a problem of the 17 pro version, because it worked for the core version months ago. So I installed the core version again, but there now seems to be the same issue.

My anamnese: Error on the Zorin server with the latest update of the windows suport app for Zorin.

Is there any manual way to install that others than using the software app, which automatically tried it, when selecting "Windows program support" from the menue?

Thank you for any hint.

You could install it with Synaptic or over the Terminal. When You like to use Synaptic, open it and search for zorin-windows and You should find this:

If You prefer to install it over the Terminal, please look at the Picture for the Package Name and then type in the Terminal sudo apt install [Package-Name]

It's most annoying, isn't it?

I recommend checking a few things:

  • Net speed - check traceroute for packet loss.
  • Switch to the Main Server in Software & Updates > Download from. Regional servers are not always up to par...
  • Internet Powersave options: Disable powersave for networking.
