I installed TomTom's Mydrive Connect (Windows installation).
The software is used for (among other options) to update my navigation.
The installation proces went straight forward.
But unfortunately after starting the software nothing happens.
The navigation is connected to my Zorin laptop with USB.
You could use Virt-Manager instead. Have Windows 8.1 Pro 32-bit running in it smoothly. Just install Windows as a VM and then install the software to that. Virt Manager is better for USB connections but you have to manually add it in the machine Details which you can do before installing Windows as a VM.
Sorry for being subborn.
I installed Virtual Box instead of Virt-Manager and installed Windows 10.
Everything worked out of the box, except the usb-connection.
I found out howto get usb working. A half hour later I was able to connect my TomTom and update it.
Thanks for leading me to the VM solution.
Hi,
I have the same issue I need "TomTom my drive" to work, I was looking at virtual box and win 10. You might be able to save me some time if you remember what you done to get the USB working.
In order for VirtualBox to see your USB devices, your user must be in the vboxusers group. Open up a terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T), then run the following command. Replace your-username with your real username. (I assume your host OS is a Linux distro such as Ubuntu, instead of Windows).
sudo gpasswd -a your-username vboxusers
Now log out and log back in so the changes can take effect. To check which groups your user account belongs to, run:
groups yourusername
If you still aren’t in the vboxuser group, then restart your computer.
