I think my current detect wireless adaptor isn't correct I should have
but what is detected is
The top looks like windows and the bottom looks like a proprietary driver using linux. If you installed non-free drivers at install with an internet connection chances are it's the correct driver
I have downloaded the Linux version of the windows driver just don't know how to apply it.
If you downloaded from github, usually there are install instructions on the page.
Most often, three small commands:
./configure
make
sudo make install

Do you know how to exactly know the model of the wireless adapter?
Because it's so hard as this laptop is retired and I can't seem to know the model of this card.

If you are still having trouble, you might try:
sudo apt install --reinstall broadcom-sta-source broadcom-sta-dkms broadcom-sta-common
It may be a bcmwl-kernel-source issue, which can get slightly complicated to fix. Ubuntu is a bit notorious for updating the kernel, but forgetting to update bcmwl.

What made this confusion is that in windows I have never known my wireless model as it's always just Broadcom 802.11n without the model number.
