Sooo.as most of yall know,i just did a reinstall and i thought i should make a new post.soo i did everything correct with(manual partitioning) and everything was fine.it booted to the login screen.as ive heard from everybody, xorg is better.so i decided to try it as soon as i started.guess what.my system went yellow again.but its not a big deal
After i switch back to wayland 11 it will probably he fine.i want to ask that whats the reason behind this.from my perspective, xorg works great for most of yall and might be infact be better than w11.
I now believe that xorg has once again tainted my system sooo im gonna do a reinstall once again.its not even that long
(Last time i used an usb 2.0hehe)This time its a good usb 3.1.it didnt take more than 20 mins in total.tge installation itself was no longer than 7mins.
Anyway the electricity then went out ![]()

So ill update yall later on the driver shii and if the kernel works or not.
Anyway im really glad i did a reinstall.
Thank you everyone.im truly indebted.
Also i want to ask that what are the best sizes for /var /usr /tmp.for these i usually do 20 gb 20 gb 10 gb.i also keep 80 gb free space just in case i needed to expand any partition.
I also want to ask that what does /boot do and how much is the best amount for it.
Sometimes the yellow screen appears when nouveau driver instead of nvidia drivers is loaded.
You could also try to switch to another color profile for your monitor/display. Perhaps this also solves the issue when using X11.
What is the brand/model of your computer? Which nvidia graphics card do you use?
Why do you need to reinstall? You can switch back and forth between Xorg and Wayland at the login screen. If one doesn't work for you, just use the other.
The best sizes are the ones that meet your needs, whatever those may be. If you're not sure, leave this alone until you have a good reason to start partitioning your drive like that.
I have a rtx 3060 and a aoc monitor
And youre right it is because the drivers switch to the noveau ones.
I believe that i might be the noveau drivers that crashed my games and made up compatibilty issues even though i changed them(just my superstition)
Mr zenzen thank you for your reply.for the first question,i believe that it was the noveau drivers that messed up my system in the previous install.even though i changed the drivers many time, they worked dor some time but issues kept persisting.it seems my system hates xorg💀.
And i thought that while im already at it.i have a usb with zorin and all data backed up soo why not and why take even any little risk.anyway i want to ask that is you could tell me what caused the issues with xorg.thank you for your time.![]()
You don't need to create manually the Partitions. When You only install Zorin on You Machine without Dual-Boot with Windows, You choose in the Installer the Option ''Erase Disk''. This wipes Your whole Disk and then installs Zorin on it. the Installer makes everything automatically and it isn't neccessary to create manually Partitions.
When You want create a Dual-Boot System with Windows choose in the Installer the Option ''Install Zorin alongside Windows'', in the next Step use the Toggle to choose how much disk Space You want to use and again the Installer makes everything automatically.
Because You are using a Nvidia Card X11/Xorg is on Zorin 17 the better Choice for it. I would suggest to install Zorin offline or at least without installing Updates. You can install Updates and Driver after the Installation. Check that Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS are disabled. And if Windows is there, check that Fast start-Up is in windows disabled.
My good sir thanks for your opinion.
As for your first question.no i dont have a dual boot system.i just do manual partitioning for the fun of it.and yes i have done it many times before and everything runs perfectly.i was just asking others opinions hehe😁
Second,i dont understand.so you are asking me to run the boot usb with safe graphics and not nvidia graphics.
I also want to clear a misconception.i have installed zorin many times.although i am a bit of a noob but not that much hehe.
I always installed with nvidia graphics and everything worked perfectly.infact in 6 months of using zorin i had no problem.it was only when the new kernel was released and i switched to xorg at the same time so i cant differentiate what actually caused the drivers failing again and again with compatibility issues.
I believe it was xorg
Anyway im doing a reinstall.
ill update yall later and i want to ask that should i update to the latest version or not.thank you for your precious time.
(Funfact: you dont necessarily need a desktop to make a bootable usb.there are apps on mobile with which you can write iso images to usbs connected with otg.it works just fine.i myself have tried multiple times.although there arent many option such as partition size or gpt or mb something... Anyway im glad to share information)
Sir.i have a favour to ask.i have finally reinstalled with everything set up and fully updated.niw i want to ask that what the best way or command to ensure every kind of driver is installed and in use.thank you
Halooooo.everybody.i have done a fresh install and updated and upgraded everything and loke done everything.and the kernel is also the latest i believe.and rn there is no issue so i guess it fixed itself after the install and thank you for all your support.if a problem appears ill let you know.
All the things i was worried about are fixed so everything is okay after the new install so thank you.![]()

When Your System works like it should, the Drivers are working. For Your Graphics Card, You can take a Look in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates which Driver is installed. Alternatively, You can use the Command nvidia-smi to check if Your Nvidia Card is detected and what Driver You use.
brother,im using the same drivers that i tried in my previous install but it still didnt work.my 14 y.o brain cant comprehend this.but now the same driver (which was supposed to be the good one)is working top notch in this new install.whereas the same exact driver crashed many times in the previous install.and also all my other drivers are working just fine.thank you all for helping me out.
Just a comment about partitioning. I always prefer manual partitioning. Basically (I only ever deploy HDD not SSD), I use 3 partitions:
80 Gb for /
Extended partition with swap area which I double the size of RAM installed at the end, but really only needs to be about the same for me (16 Gb), and everything in front of swap area made as /home.
Dual-booting does not come into the equation. If your / goes sideways, with a separate /home, a fresh install will only require the system being reinstalled without the need to start a fresh /home (something that PCLinuxOS useds are not able to do - unless this flaw has since been rectified, but raised on their forum some months ago [not to be confused with PCLOS Debian which is a totally different beast]).
In respect of /boot EFI uses this partition which should be a minimum of 300 Mb. Before EFI I never used a /boot partition, but had to use it on an eeePC netbook my manager was using. It had XP Home on it and stopped working as there was no room left for Windows Updates! ![]()
So, the netbook had a bizarre SSD of only 10 Gb. This was hard split into 4 Gb for the OS and 6 Gb for the Data and they could not be merged. I searched to see if XP Home could be installed on the 6 Gb but searching confirmed this was not possible. At the time I think I installed Zorin 6. I made a /boot partition on the 6 Gb (can't remember what size I made it) and made the rest as /. I made the 4 Gb partition for /home. I installed WINE, installed MS Office 2010, and naughtily installed Win 2.7-7. This creates a Windows 7 'Plymouth theme' and additionally adds all the MS Office Icons in the menu. ... and she never even used it! ![]()
If you're only 14 I'm extremely impressed. ![]()
Thats an excellent suggestion for the OP @Forpli , I run the RGB color profile on my Dell G3223Q monitor, everything works as expected.
Im flattered.
