I started experiencing issues with Xwayland after upgrading to Zorin 17.2 Core. I cannot determine how the CPU has pikes of 100%, and then I regularly receive a message popping up saying wait or close the application.
I'm afraid that the upgrade degraded my experience too much, before upgrading worked like a charm for me.
What were you on before upgrading to Z17.2?
If Z16 then that had X11 windowing as default, wheras Z17 has Wayland as default.
I know you are talking about Xwayland issue, which suggests you are using the default Wayland setting.
Have you tried X11 windowing instead of Wayland. You can select X11 (Xorg) or Wayland from cog icon (bottom right of screen), when you click on your username field to start a login.
Thanks @zabadabadoo for the information, I didn't know how Zorin 16 worked prior to the upgrade to Zorin 17.2, I always kept my system upgraded and it was odd to face the issue in the first place.
Your analysis is pretty accurate, I changed to Zorin on the Xorg option, and I'd like to give it a try this way.
I'll keep you posted in case I face any other further issue; in the meantime, I'll mark this as the solution.
