That's disappointing.

It's been over a week, where is the 18.1 iso? I'm waiting to fresh install it on a new device (don't want to install 18 and then update to 18.1, waste of data quota)

Also there is no 18 Lite release yet so far, Seriously what is Zorin team doing now in terms of deliverability? This release-when-ready policy feels c-r-a-p day by day. Ok fine, 18 Lite may not be ready so no release of it, but what's with the 18.1 core -- if 18.1 core is also not ready then why push it through updates to the users??

Hm, some mirrors already have the 18.1 .iso. Maybe you can find one in your country.

There is. Interesting. On the Lite Page is still the 17.3 Version mentioned.

Yes - very interesting. Why hasn't the Zorin Group announced the "lite" version?

Sorry to say, but the Zorin Group sure could use a business consultant. I mean, why keep the last version of Zorin OS Lite hush-hush, especially if they're gonna stop working on it? I mean, I can get their view, but at the same time, there's a whole group of people who use the Lite version. Hiding stuff is not a good look.

I don't know to be honest. But interesting that it is already Lite 18.1 and not only 18.

Well, Hiding ... I mean when it would be ready they would have published the Checksum for it - which they don't have. I checked the sha File on a Server where a Lite 18 ISO is and there is no Checksum in it. So, maybe they actually prepare now the Release. We will see if there will come an Announcement.

I took a first look into Zorin 18.1 Lite live session:

The Zorin theme has been improved with better looking rounded corners
The windows have a grab area outside the windows now for easier resizing the windows in xfce.

I think it is not ready yet. The window tiling with the keyboard doesn´t work, also not by removing the configurated shortcuts and editing them to super+arrow. There seems to be a problem with the modulator key for SUPER key. When I set other keys as e.g. SHIFT+arrow, the window tiling works.

Edit: I removed the shortcuts for left and right super key at xfce4-popup-zorinmenulite and created a new entry at autostart with

xcape -e 'Super_L=Control_L|Escape'

then the window tiling worked with Super+arrow.

I'd be interested to know how the "about" xfce4 dialog can be shown. I didn't found it yet.

Well, I know what I'm running tonight after I've got some free time. It still infuriates me that lite is going away, but at least I could run this version until the bitter end.

We're due to release Zorin OS 18.1 – alongside the Lite edition – in a couple of hours time. Stay tuned to our Blog at 5pm UTC for more information about it: https://blog.zorin.com/

We typically upload new .iso files slightly ahead of the release to allow enough time for the worldwide network of external mirror servers to sync them.

We also update the base-files package (which sets the "18.1" version number in the system) in the software repositories around a week before a new point release. This allows us to build the .iso files ahead of launch.

I'm a bit confused by this latest round of comments about Core 18.1. I saw 18.1 in my Settings/System/About maybe a week ago, though I had no reason to question it until now. Maybe it's explained by " We also update the base-files package (which sets the "18.1" version number in the system) in the software repositories around a week before a new point release."? But in that case, why is this suddenly a topic of such great interest? I didn't do any manual updates beyond the usual Software/Software Updater updates.

Came here to say that I just saw the announcement just now on Facebook.

Could I make a little Suggesttion to the Blog Article Title that now is there?

Because this also mentions the Release of Zorin 18 Lite maybe change the Title to something like ''Zorin OS 18.1 is released + Release of Zorin 18 Lite''.

And I have found in the Article this Passage:

Zorin OS 18.1 is now powered by the Linux kernel 6.17, the same version as in the latest Ubuntu 25.10.

The last Passage what mentions Ubuntu 25.10 can cause Irritations and some People could understand it the Way that Zorin 18.1 would now be based on Ubuntu 25.10. So, maybe let the 2nd Part and only use the first one:

Zorin OS 18.1 is now powered the Linux kernel 6.17.

Bring up the app launcher with Super + R and then type xfce4-about in the dialog box and hit enter.
