Zorin 18 failed to download repository information

I installed Zorin 18, and since then I’ve been constantly getting errors whenever I try to perform an update.

I cannot help but notice the requests for 32bit packages.
Have you done anything, such as trying to install Wine or Zorin Windows App Support - or any other software install that asks for 32 bit support?

I don’t know—I downloaded the Zorin installation from Zorin website, created a bootable USB, and installed it. This has been happening from the very beginning! If you can’t help, then who else could?

There is more than one issue shown in your output. One is about a SHA mismatch on a translation file. Quite a few are about 32bit supported packages.

This is where accuracy becomes critical for solving an issue: Zorin OS 17 nor 18 offer any 32 bit support out of the box. These can only be obtained post-install by end user actions.

Most likely, these have blended together, creating a situation where you saw issues in the terminal output, then later, saw the addition of more issues that looked a lot like the initial output.

What both of the issues have in common, to my eye - is a Mirror Sync issue.
The translation file having a metadata mismatch in the file size means that file has been updated on Ubuntu's end, but your regional mirror is only providing the older file.
With installing Wine - this same thing happens.

Ideally, local and regional mirrors should always be synced with the main server. Experience has shown me that this is... undeniably too often not the case.

Please launch Software & Updates and change the Download From drop down menu to "Main Server."

Once that is done, you can close Software & Updates and allow it to refresh.

Launch a terminal and run

sudo apt clean && sudo apt autoremove

sudo apt update

This should align all your sources. I do not expect that this will immediately solve all issues, but it should solve a couple, narrowing things down.

The system is still resolving that to regional alias: ba.archive.ubuntu.com
Instead of the Main Server.

Ensure all sources are set to Main Server:
sudo sed -i 's|http://ba.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu|http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu|g' /etc/apt/sources.list
The above is all one single command, you can copy and paste into terminal. What it does is replaces all ba.archive instances in the sources.list with the archive instances for the main server.
Once done, run

sudo apt clean

to clean the apt cache.
Then clear the lists you have stored to ensure you get fresh ones:

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*

Then test

sudo apt update

and see if the File Size Mismatch is resolved.
And possibly the 32bit sources, too.

Just had that and fixed it. Restart it and go into terminal and type sudo apt-get upgrade press enter then it will show you the command to type in to fix the error. restart again and go back into terminal and type sudo apt-get upgrade and it will spend 10 mins upgrading the repos, once it stops then type in sudo apt-get update and press enter and then it should work. I was fiddling with mine in vmware and the exact same happened. A bug I think
