Zorin doesn't work for me, and I don't want to go back to windows 10 D:

So, before i start, i just want to get this clear, i love linux, all, the users, the community, the OS distributions and all, but my skills with computers are just not enough, and i had problems in the past with the same.

Yesterday my pc was giving me warnings bout the var folder being very full and i searched and put some commands in terminal, i dont even remember what type of command they were, and i mention this becuz idk why or how but my steam app just loads but doesent work, like, it starts, it passes the login user screen, and then its just the steam logo loading, but thats all.

And thats not the only problem, i asked before for tips and help because my pc was very slow, i tried zorin os lite and stuff, but i cant explain why my zorin os is slower than windows 10, (in my laptop, idk if it is faster), the thing is, even with the community help, (btw thanks a lot), i cant figure it out why my laptop is slow as hell.

Idk if i can provide u guys some information, like, if u guys know button, option, or stuff that can help me to show u my laptop details, like graphics card and stuff, (sorry for my bad english, me no talking english good nacho taco chimichanga), if u guys know how can i provide u that info to make it easier to see whats the problem, that would help a lot.

Plz guys, i love the linux community, and i dont want to leave it, i know this distro works well with laptops like mine, im just not that smart to know why.

PS: Idk if i nedd like a clean install, i followed a youtube tutorial to do so, but idk, anyway, thanks again, and have a nice day.

When I first moved from WIndows OS to Zorin OS, it was a nightmare of headaches.
Many problems that as soon as I solved, found another. Not because GnuLinux was broken.

But because I did not believe in myself enough to really roll up my sleeves and get into the system.
And because I wanted what I wanted immediately, instead of trusting myself to learn.

Overcoming those two barriers were what unlocked the gate.
Now, I rarely ever have problems. I spend far more time reviewing other peoples issues than my own. Now, the system makes sense and I can do what I want with it, fearlessly.
I get better performance out of a GnuLinux distro than I do Windows OS, and more stability - because Windows OS has released bad patches that have been bricking drives, needed to be rolled back... and is bloated with A.I.

It sounds like you installed Steam as a Flatpak - and VAR directory is too full.
As a first step, I would remove the flatpak of Steam - which you can do with the Software Store GUI.
Once uninstalled, open a terminal and run:

sudo apt install steam

You can go into the steam settings once installed and point it back toward your games folder.

Please detail what you are seeing. We cannot see your screen.
Merely switching to Steam will not clear out a fully loaded var directory.
And I do not know if you mean Steam did not work, if the install did not work, the computer is still showing the directory as full or something else entirely.

the installation did work, the thing is that it just keeps loading and i cant open any games from the menu because i uninstelled and installed it, so i asume the games got deleted as well

The games would not get auto deleted, no.

Did you do this?

i can because i literally cant enter to steam, it is stuck in an infinite loading screen and the little icon in the taskbar doesent appear :frowning:

As @Aravisian said didnt give up as I too had troubles at first with zorin was a mouse then one of the games i wanted to play didnt work i worked through and not only got that game going but another i wished to play as well.. trust me its worth the work. there are folks here who will help. and over time we will look back and laugh at this....Hang in the @SaltedLovesTux

Thanks bud, u and the ppl that helped me make me want to stay in here, (not like some other AI support from some other OS...), i love the community, im gonna stay wiht zorin, no matter how bad the things are, im jyst gonna br patient, thx :slight_smile:

So Steam, installed as a .deb is stuck in a loading loop - is that correct?

Hello again, sorry for late answer, so, idk what was the problem, but i downloaded another version of steam in the software store (idk if thats the real name of it) and it worked fine, but really apreciate ur time bud thx a lot
