How do we go about getting onto a beta programme?
I actually love Gnome… despite their best effort to tick everyone off.
I’m using Gnome 3.36 in Ubuntu 20.04 until the next version of Zorin comes out and it works very well but doesn’t look as good as Zorin does.
Rhythmbox doesn’t seem to work in any other environment except Gnome.
I used Solus and Fedora this year it it had too many problems, like programs breaking in Solus and Fedora having to restart after a update and taking terribly long to boot back into the OS.
I can’t wait for the next carefree version of Zorin, Ubuntu is simply less refined.
I like KDE, but everything works flawlessly in Gnome.
That’s been my experience as well.
That’s interesting. Are you using Zorin Lite?
Yes, I am.
It is XFCE4 desktop Environment for Lite, though I am using the Cinnamon Desktop that I installed.
I’m afraid I am a Clementine die hard - no least because of the superior MProject (Milk Drop) visualisations.
I know. It’s really annoying that they limit features and customisation. I love how XFCE frees you to customise your desktop endlessly. I wish GNOME had something like that. I’m currently using GNOME because it has a more streamlined design, a more modern look, and a progressive interface. I would love it if someone came out with a DE that blended GNOME’s simplicity, elegance and progressiveness with XFCE’s customisation, performance and features.
Yes. The first distro I got into was OpenSUSE Gnome and I loved the interface of pure gnome. I just find the tweaking Zorin has done gets me where I want to go interface wise quicker.
Thats why I love XFCE too, it allows us to customize, so we can make our OS’s beautiful, just like our soul’s within us.
They have already, it’s called KDE.
Yeah, I tried Kubuntu, and the customization was amazing, but there were some quirks. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime soon.
When Zorin 16 will be released?
When will the new Zorin be released? what is the name that was released next? Zorin version 16 or 17 or18 or 19 or 20?
Allthough Zorin next version will approximately based on ubuntu 20.04.x is it maybe planed to give Zorin OS the ability to join Active Directory on Setup?
Compared to this:
Why use Zorin if you're just going to change DE's? Wouldn't Mint or Ubuntu Cinammon be better?
Many reasons.
Cinnamon runs better on Zorin OS than on Mint. It really does. On Mint, the OS tends to bog down pretty quickly. On Zorin, it stays light and speedy even running weeks without a reboot.
Zorin OS contains a lot of support packages I prefer.
Zorin OS is meshed well, allowing me to transfer desktop components out in a modular manner. Mint uses Mintsources which binds you exclusively to Mint.
I Have used Ubuntu 20.04 Cinnamon and it also runs slower than Zorin OS does.
Zorin has long been known for its excellent Performance.
I have tested it, benchmarked it many times and always reached the same results.
Ok. Sounds quite justified, although I'm sure it took skill to change DE's.
Do you know how Zorin has better performance? Just curious to learn more.
