I installed ZorinOS version 17, during the installation I chose the option with modern graphics included.
I have secure boot disabled and my laptop is an HP Victus with RTX 3050.
The settings about section shows Mesa Intel® Graphics (RPL-P) / Mesa Intel® Graphics (RPL-P).
I tried uninstalling the current graphics driver which was version 535 and went ahead with the latest 555. After a reboot the settings menu displayed nvidia graphics driver correctly, but the software store and zorin appearance apps broke and they wouldn't load.
I did a fresh install and this time it seems that nvidia version 550 is installed, I opened nvidia settings and switched the profile to performance and did a reboot.
Currently the settings app still shows Mesa Intel® Graphics (RPL-P) / Mesa Intel® Graphics (RPL-P).
I had this occur with a different card and the driver was installed, but not configured properly. My situation and solution aren't applicable. To find if it is a similar case run the following and check for errors. sudo dpkg --configure -a
Yes, it is very much a visual bug. Or maybe your driver doesn't work correctly. As someone who also uses a Victus, I did install it with modern NVIDIA drivers, and it worked. I don't know how wouldn't it work anymore on other Victus models...
I left it as it for a few days, then today it asked me for an update, I installed the updates and I noticed in the logs that there was nvidia updating, it's still version 550, but after a reboot, now it shows RTX 3050 in the settings.
