Quick question for the more experienced hands here on this forum. I just might go back to Zorin OS 17 Pro as my daily driver. However, one thing, please, before I do anything further. I asked Google Gemini and ChatGPT if it was possible to use Ubuntu Pro to extend security updates for the Ubuntu base past the June 2027 expiration date for Zorin-backed support (for Zorin OS 17). Both said "yes," but with caveats. I asked Brave AI (Leo) the same. It said "yes." All of them added that I could enter a command in the terminal to attach an Ubuntu Pro "token" to my OS install after installation. My question is if all this is actually practicable? Advisable? Is the Ubuntu Pro thing even realistic in this scenario? Thanks to whoever replies.
As far as I know, You could do that but it would theoretically only work for Ubuntu-based Updates. The whole Zorin Sutff wouldn't get Updates anymore.
But I must say, I personally wouldn't recommend to do it this Way and mix that up. If You really want use Ubuntu Pro, I would suggest to use Ubuntu directly and there set up Ubuntu with Extensions so You have a similar Look like Zorin has. You could theoretically copy the Zorin Themes and Icons to Ubuntu and use it there.

What Ubuntu Pro can offer is Extended Security and updates for five more years. But officially, it only supports Ubuntu and expects Ubuntu metadata which derivatives (like Zorin OS) change.
You would only get partial support. And it is not worth a lot for a regular home desktop user. It is aimed more toward servers and enterprise.

Just for fun, I installed Ubuntu Pro on my new Zorin 17.3 install on my spare laptop. Long story short, I got a message saying Zorin 17 wasn't supported. Not that I doubted the responses I got earlier, mind you. But the "tinkerer" in me had to try and see; experience it for myself. That's it for Ubuntu Pro. So much for that idea. I think I'll stick with MX Linux XFCE for the foreseeable future. I like the workflow I set up for myself (GNOME2-like layout), so OK. MX Linux XFCE it is, then.
