Zorin OS 18 Core freeze during install

Hi,
I'm trying to install Zorin OS 18 Core on a ACER Aspire ES1-732 laptop (with currently Win11 installed) and the install freeze at the start, right after the systemfile check.
I have tried with 3 different USB keys (each time a different brand), downloaded fresh copy 3 times, used different etchers (Balena and Rufus), used different USB ports, tried both the "normal" and the "safe graphic" install, and Secure Boot is disabled.
And each time the same thing happens: I boot on the USB key, I choose "Try or install Zorin", the systemfile check happens with no errors, the Zorin logo then replace the text from the file check and ... nothing.
Does anyone knows what's going on and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Check if fast-startup in Windows is disabled (at energy settings), and also turn off fast boot in your BIOS.

I've disabled fast-startup and turned off fast boot but no improvement :frowning:
I've even tried another etcher (UUI) but I still have the same issue.

OK.. I've tried installing the latest versions of Mint Cinnamon and Pop OS and I have the same result as for Zorin.

I then made a bootable USB key with Gparted and replaced all partition with a clean new one, and yet I'm still stuck at the same stage when trying to install Zorin so it must have something to do with my laptop i guess but when I look at its specs, it should be OK

My laptop:
Aspire ES1-732-CBYN

  • Intel Celeron N3350
  • 4Go DDR3
  • Intel Graphics 500
  • 1 To HDD

You could try it with Zorin lite or Linux Mint XFCE. Some computers have problems with 4 GiB RAM and Zorin core. The specs shown on Zorin's website are not realistic for a pleasant user experience.

It might be because the processor is no longer properly managed by the Ubuntu kernel > 6.2 (since Zorin 17 RC1). I had created a thread about this issue regarding an Intel Core i7-6700HQ.

I had the same problem with Linux Mint because the issue comes from the Ubuntu kernel, so I installed a Linux kernel on Zorin to make it work.

Welcome to the Forum!

  • Is Your BIOS in UEFI of Legacy Mode?
  • When You used Rufus, what Option did You choose on ''Partition Sheme''?
  • Did You checked the Checksum of the ISO?

@Tokashi : i will try, thanks.

@Ponce-De-Leon My BIOS is UEFI, I used MBR on partition scheme and I checked all ISO checksum to be sure none were corrupted.

Maybe you can ttake a loook here, it's in french but you can translate it

That could be the Problem. I would recommend to use GPT for Your UEFI BIOS. So, use Rufus again and choose GPT. And then create the Bootstick again.
