Here is a help site. Do you want to install Zorin as Dualboot or single OS? Do you use Windows at the moment? Then Rufus is a good tool to create a bootstick.

First things first

You will need:

  • a USB stick that you don't mind erasing everything currently saved on it
    • at least 4GB for Core / Lite or 16GB for Pro / Education versions of Zorin
  • to check some settings in your BIOS:
    • disable any feature called something like "fast boot" (you may need to check your device / motherboard / BIOS manual to confirm if they gave it an odd name)
    • disable Secure Boot
    • enable booting from USB
  • disable "fast startup" in Windows if you intend to dual-boot
  • to backup anything you currently have on the 5TB Seagate drive that you wish to keep
    • even if you know what you're doing with manual partition editing and have already set aside some "empty" space for Zorin, it's best to ensure anything important is backed up just in case
  • to know how to boot from USB on your device, as the key you need to press differs across motherboards and brands
    • on a PC, it may tell you on the screen during boot, but it is usually either Esc, Delete, F2, or F12
    • on a Mac, press and hold the ⌥ Option key during boot

Download

You can download Zorin here:

(note: if you have an older or lower-power device, particularly if no more than 4GB of RAM, then you may want to try Zorin Lite instead)

The download will be an ISO file, which is kind of like a fancy ZIP archive for CD / DVD images.

When the download finishes, confirm that it is completely intact by verifying the hash:

If the ISO checksum doesn't match, try downloading it again or use another mirror closer to your physical location.

Write to USB

All methods will erase the current contents of your USB stick!

To write the ISO to your USB stick, you will need to use some specific software:

Alternatively, you can make a sort of multi-tool using Ventoy. Once setup on your USB stick, this allows you to simply copy ISO files onto the stick like you'd normally copy any other file, but be able to boot any of them from a simple menu. This way you can also collect a bunch of tools like clonezilla, gparted, memtest, rescatux, super grub2 boot, etc., to help with troubleshooting any computer, as well as the Zorin ISO for installing. You will need at least a 16GB USB stick for this to be worthwhile, though.

Well, that is a bit less Informations.

  • Do You want install Zorin only on Your System or as a Dual Boot beside Windows or another Linux Distro?
  • In Case of another Linux Distro: What Distro?
  • Do You have several Drives?
  • Do You want install System A on Drive A and System B on Drive B or both on one Drive?
  • Do You create the Bootstick with Windows or another OS?
  • Is Your BIOS in UEFI or Legacy Mode?
  • Do You have a USB Stick at Hand? If yes: What Strage Capacity?

Wish I had this information. When I installed. My installation was not that great. Sent me into a panic. But help came. Now on Zorin. And Love It.
