For anyone starting study and thinking of moving away from Windows or maybe can't afford a new powerful laptop. I would just like to suggest that Zorin OS can be used for University/College.
The short of it is to use:
OnlyOffice for word processing and presentations.
Zotero for referencing.
OnlyOffice and Zotero were both easy to install and very easy to get working together by installing the Zotero Plugin via the "Plugin Manager" in OnlyOffice.
This probably isn't news to anyone in the Linux community. But for anyone browsing the forums and researching options. I would suggest trying the Zorin/OnlyOffice/Zotero combination.
I experimented with a few different combinations of word processors and referencing tools for the purpose of essay writing (both paid and free).
I assumed that paid products would work better and be easier to set up and use. Taking the "right tool for the job" mindset.
Disappointingly this was not my experience.
In the past I have used both Mac and Windows for uni and predominantly used the MS Word/EndNote combination. However this year since I have enjoyed Zorin so much I am determined to use it for uni and break away from Windows/Mac.
