Zorin OS Has a lot of Problems

Good Day Creators.

your zorin os has a lot of problems,

  1. Too much power saving of my components and my graphics kept turning off until I solved it

  2. Poor Optimization of Installation Speed Random Needs of Content Creators like me as well as for ordinary users

  3. Poor optimization for the performance of my computer and others in most things, like hoi4 on win 10 works too perfectly, while on linux it lags so much that it behaves like I have a computer from 2005

  4. Modern zorin os slows down and works slower than win 10

otherwise praise for the design and appearance and approach of zorin os in most things, but that doesn't change the fact that zorin os lacks basic needs, even some things are worse than win 10 such as optimizations, next time I try zorin os again in 10 years or maybe less or more, if it doesn't work well, I'll make a video about what kind of creators you are, I'm just saying how yes, everything depends on you and the more you try, the more attention and help you will get from content creators to promote your community and your zorin os system for free,

My Specs for context: Ryzen 5 2600, AMD RX 580 4GB, 16GB RAM.

Thank you for your attention

It depend usage, cause I code a lot on an old laptop, 11 years old, and my computer boot in less than 18 seconds and use in idle 2% CPU and 10% when I use Vs Code, with Windows it was 65% CPU just to open VS Code, so that's why it depend...
But I will let you go back to spying system and telemetry if is your choice.
Good luck

Welcome to the Forum!

Performance Optimizations are difficult because You have wide spread Hardware Configurations. So, optimize that for fitting all doesn't work. And Zorin isn't made for that. It doesn't used an optimized Kernel or Drivers to do that.

What does that mean. Youw rite it but don't explain it.

You write that as a Fact but it is only for You the case. When I now say it runs on my PC faster and more responsive as Win10 it did, I say how it is in my Case. Again: Hardware Configurations are widespread.

My apologies for the phrasing, I was tired. What I meant by "Needs of Content Creators" is:

  1. Reliability and Speed: When I installed heavy software or games like War Thunder, the installation speed on Zorin was unacceptably slow compared to Windows 10 on the EXACT same hardware.

  2. Efficiency: As a creator, I need my OS to stay responsive while doing heavy tasks in the background. Zorin struggled with resource management (CPU/GPU) where Windows handled it smoothly.

About the Hardware Configurations: You say Zorin isn't made for that, but Windows 10 manages to run perfectly on my configuration, please explain why hoi4 works on my win 10 with so much speed and power, while in yours zorin os should work twice as much as on win 10 and instead it works almost 40% of what I heard about your system, otherwise these estimates do not announce what was my expectation from the system for which I heard that it works as it should, but it goes without saying that I tested it for real, and it almost doesn't have everything it needs, Real Talk

Hardware and Software is simply primary made for Windows. And that is not a Conspiracy, it is simply because it is widespread in the Consumer User Area. Most private User and even Companies are using Windows.

So, Developers orientate on that. And that leads to better optimized Software and Hardware on Windows. Linux is still Nice - at least in private User Area. that isn't something that Linux can fix by thereown. There have to come Hardware Manufaturers and Software Developers and Companies together to offer Linux Support. Some do that already. But that doesn't mean that all is well. And Stuff like WINE, Bottles or WinBoat only exist because of the Lack of Software Support.

Linux for power-users isn't easy. I watched this video ages ago, even though I'm not a power-user, but because I want to learn. Chris explains a lot of your issues and offers some advice about what you can do and what you should expect.

That doesn't change the fact that your system is still bad. Say whatever you want, but I made my point clear and justified it.

Is this just another unoptimized piece of trash? No thanks. I'm out.

That doesn't change the fact you are wrong because your experience doesn't make a truth, and it's not @Ponce-De-Leon 's system or I missed something somewhere... The system doesn't fit YOUR wish, try another or go back to Windows...
You justified nothing, just YOUR anger

The stock install runs as well as any Ubuntu based system, sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves. Further optimization is entirely up to the user. Easy Linux Tips site has well documented tweaks that anyone can easily apply and most people enjoy some safe hands on experience.

Hi and welcome.

I think the blunt reality is that hardware designed for Windows is always going to run better than GNU/Linux is because hardware manufacturers are only concerned with providing hardware that meets the demand for the current market. No hardware manufacturer of Windows machines is going to spend time and money in putting together hardware that will work with both Proprietary Operating Systems and Free Software Systems.

I suspect you have befallen Zorin's marketing ploy about the tons of software that is equivalent to a lot of money being spent on proprietary software being available on GNU/Linux, some of which is going to demand learning something totally different, e.g, GIMP.

If you need decent specifications then the only way to address that is to purchase hardware designed to run GNU/Linux. It's pricey because it is a niche market, just as Apple is a niche market, but Apple has Trillions to play with. No such joy for Linux hardware manufacturers.

It isn't my System. I'm not one of the Developers.

When Zorin doesn't work for, then it doesn't. I didn't denied that. But it doesn't change anything about the Fact that Windows is supported more widespread. And because of that Hardware and Software Companies have a primary Focus on that. And that is not surprising. It's simply pracmatic.

And when Zorin doesn't work for You, You can try another Distro. You can go away from the LTS Concept and could take a Look at Fedora for Example.

Sounds like user error.

It seems to me there is a need to explain what Linux is and isn't, clearly and succinctly, at the point of download. I am thinking of the kernel, the distro and the desktop environment. In Windows these are a unified whole, in Linux they are separate and have different responsibilities in regard to the system.

There is also a need to explain more clearly why a program will work on Windows and not on Linux. Complete honesty upfront and careful use of words will lead to more realistic expectations for those thinking about "coming over". As Swarfendor
mentioned, the "marketing ploy" used by the devs will make these things more difficult for people just wanting something better than Windows.

The evangelism and desire to be all things to all people leads to difficulties and disappointed people.

Big time, yeah.
